ASET 2012 Year in Review | 2012 December 31 | Baltimore, MD
The Historically Underutilized Business Zones (HUBZone) empowerment contracting program encourages economic development in “HUBZones” to promote economic development and employment growth in distressed areas of the country. Unlike other set aside preferences, HUBZones serve the community at large – not just a few small business owners. HUBZone certified companies are truly community-oriented and support local communities.
“HUBZone represents a goal we have had since day one- sharing beltway dollars with the distressed neighborhoods where many of our senior leadership grew up. This designation will help ASET grow in a manner that is consistent with our corporate goal of bringing beltway employment to our home communities as well as bringing the best brainpower from across the country.” – Tom Gangi, President
ASET also expanded into a number of new client agencies including the Department of Commerce (DOC) National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and National Technical Information Service (NTIS), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of Bombing Prevention (OBP), and a commercial client in the Center for Internet Security (CIS). In addition, ASET achieved one of its longtime goals to establish a presence within the intelligence community. ASET Partners was awarded two contracts providing cost estimation and budgetary support within the intel community. These efforts allow ASET to bring expertise and cross-Department lessons learned in information security, program management and program management office (PMO) implementation, full lifecycle information technology management, and strategic organizational management support to a host of new clients.
Throughout 2012 ASET continued to build upon a series of awards and acknowledgements from clients, including those within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). As a result of continued dedication to excellence, ASET Partners received an Innovation Award from the Under Secretary of the National Protection and Programs Directorate (NPPD) for innovation and excellence for the improvement of technology infrastructure and the implementation of agile development practices within the DHS system engineering lifecycle, acquisition processes, and technology landscape.
